My Spouse, Michael, inspires me to fight cancer.
My husband was diagnosed in 1999 with a malignant brain tumor, oligoastrocytoma. After 10 years of fighting, 3 surgeries (craniotomies), 2 years of chemotherapy and 6 weeks of radiation, my husband is still strong and doesn't miss a beat. Recently, he developed a severe infection in the frontal lobe (essentially his entire forehead bone and part of the sinuses), underwent another surgery to remove that bone and is currently on 6 weeks of IV antibiotics at home. He will have to endure one more surgery to put a fake bone back in.
He is the strongest man I know and through all of this he is still running marathons, half-marathons and contemplating a triathalon. He is also an amazing father.
We thank God for everyday we have and he makes the most of each and every one.
