With your help, LIVESTRONG made it to the Top 10 Ideas for Change in America, which will be presented to representatives of the media, nonprofit organizations, and relevant officials in the Obama administration. To read more about the idea, check it out here: send the Tobacco Treaty to the Senate for ratification.
If the Senate ratifies the Tobacco Treaty, the US will join 168 committed countries in sending a powerful message to the tobacco industry: We will not stand by and watch as lung cancer statistics rise around the world. 40% of cancer is preventable, and tobacco control is one of the first and simplest steps we can take to reduce diagnoses and make cancer a national priority.
Big thanks to everyone who voted and helped us fight cancer!
Daryl Impey has just created a page in the world’s largest dedication book at LIVESTRONG Action in honor of his friend Kate. More than 48,000 people around the world have created pages in the book and those stories have inspired more than 125,000 people to commit to fight cancer.
Kate is a true LIVESTRONG supporter, and we know her story will inspire others to join the fight while Lance and Daryl are on their bikes in Cape Town. Check out her dedication page, sign it and share it with your friends and family! It only takes a moment and it could really help us build the movement to fight cancer in South Africa:
This week, our elected leaders in Washington gathered to continue their debate on overhauling a health care system that fails far too many Americans. Livestrong Action streamed coverage and ignited lively conversation in our community.
We have decided to take advantage of the national attention on health care to send a clear message to our officials. We just joined forces with the American Cancer Society and others to push a national call to action urging members of both parties to “come together quickly to pass a meaningful (health care reform) bill that improves access to insurance coverage and lowers the costs of care.”

The debate over health care is critical to all Americans and cancer survivors are no different. The stance of the Lance Armstrong Foundation and tens of thousands of grassroots supporters is clear. Legislation for healthcare reform must pass, and adhere to the following principles:
No American should be denied health insurance coverage because of pre-existing conditions.
No American should lose their insurance due to changes in health or employment.
We need 50,000 people to sign the call so that we can send a strong message to Congress. Will you help by adding your name and also asking your friends and family to do the same?
It only takes a moment and couldn’t be more urgent:
